A Tioga County man who hosted a popular weekly radio show decades ago was back in a Binghamton studio to discuss his psychic abilities.

Phil Jordan, who lives in Candor, returned to WNBF Radio on Wednesday to talk about his life and some of the unusual situations he's dealt with over the years.

His appearance on the Binghamton Now program was his first on the radio station in more than four decades.

Jordan - who will turn 75 years old in January - was born in Ithaca and grew up in Candor. He went to SUNY Brockport where he earned a degree to teach high school Spanish.

Jordan said he became aware of his psychic abilities when he was 16 years old. But he gained public attention in August 1975 when he was 25 after he was credited by authorities with finding a young boy who had been lost in the woods.

Shows hosted by Jordan at the Owego Treadway Inn conference center and at other locations began attracting large audiences.

Jordan then started appearing on WNBF Radio with a weekly program that generated plenty of calls from people anxious to hear his thoughts about things going on in their lives.

Jordan served as a Tioga County sheriff's deputy for a time. He also became an Episcopal priest and a licensed funeral director.

Jordan's work with police investigators was featured in several episodes of the Court TV program "Psychic Detectives."
