Who would have thought a couple of decades ago that two professional baseball teams named the Rumble Ponies and Yard Goats would be competing against each other. Team nicknames have changed dramatically and are evident with tonight's match-up in Hartford.

The Binghamton Rumble Ponies begin a three-game series in Hartford tonight (Friday) at 7:05 with air at 6:50 PM.  Both teams need some wins to keep their hopes for a post-season berth alive.  The Rumble Ponies are fourth in the Eastern Division while Hartford is fifth.  Reading lead the division with a record of 30-19.  Portland is in second place and five games out of first place.  Trenton is in third place and seven game back while Binghamton is 7.5 games out of the top spot while Hartford is 8.5 behind the front-runners.

David Peterson is Binghamton's starting pitcher and brings a 3-4 record into tonight's game.  Opposing him is Hartford's Jack Wynkoop who is 7-13. Wynkoop has pitched 140 innings so far this season which is the most of any Eastern League pitcher.
