The Binghamton Rumble Ponies got an outstanding effort from Chris Flexen and toppled the Reading Fightin Phils last (Thursday) night in Reading by a final score of 6-1.   Flexen did not allow a hit until the eighth inning when he gave up a solo home run to Chace Numata.  Kevin Kaczmarski had three hits and drove in three runs for the winning Ponies.

Last night's victory got the Rumble Ponies one game closer to a potential playoff spot.  The top two teams in each division qualify for the playoffs at the end of the regular season. Binghamton is now 2.5 games behind the Fightin Phils in the second-place battle.

Tonight (Friday) Mickey Jannis puts a 5-4 record on the line for the Rumble Ponies while Reading counters with Ranfi Casimiro who is 1-1.  The teams meet again Saturday night and then on Sunday afternoon. That will wrap-up the battle between the two teams for the season.

Binghamton returns home to host Akron on Monday night in a doubleheader.  Monday's first pitch is set for 5:35 PM.
