Ponies and Squirrels Play Two
The Binghamton Rumble Ponies and Richmond Flying Squirrels meet in a doubleheader today (Wednesday) at NYSEG Stadium. The first game gets underway at 5:05 PM (air at 4:50 on News Radio 1290 WNBF). The Rumble Ponies are 31-20 and 2.5 games out of first place in the Eastern Division of the Eastern League while the Flying Squirrels are 22-33 and are 9 games out of first place in the East.
The Rumble Ponies should be well-rested if not waterlogged. They have been off for the last three days with a pair of rainouts and an open date on the schedule.
In game one Donovan Hand puts his 3-1 record on the line versus Sam Coonrod (1-6). In the nightcap Chris Flexen just up from Class A St. Lucie makes his initial start for the Ponies. He will be opposed by Cory Taylor who is 2-4 for Richmond.
The two teams meet in the series and season finale between the two tomorrow (Thursday) night at 6:35. The Rumble Ponies then head to Harrisburg on Friday night for the start of a three-game series against the Senators.
