Two different stories unfolded today (Wednesday) at NYSEG Stadium.  The Binghamton Rumble Ponies and the Akron RubberDucks split a doubleheader that began at 12:05 PM.

It was a pitchers duel in the first game.  Binghamton trailed Akron 1-0 going into the bottom of the seventh inning.  Binghamton strung together four hits and capped the win off with Gustavo Nunez driving in the game-winner with a double.

In the nightcap it was anything but a pitching duel.  The RubberDucks clobbered the Ponies 11-4.  Andrew Church made his Double-A debut for Binghamton and took the loss.  The RubberDucks banged out 13 hits in the contest.  A big blow for Akron was a two-run home run from Tunkhannock native Mike Papi.  Papi was drafted by the Cleveland Indians in 2014.

After the doubleheader split Binghamton is 52-40.  Akron stands at 46-47.  The Rumble Ponies head to Harrisburg to begin a four-game series Thursday night.  Air is set for 6:45 on News Radio 1290 WNBF.
