Authorities say 37-year-old Brian Strube of Norwich was stopped by a state trooper on Route 12 in the Town of Norwich. Police say he was driving "with a stop lamp that was not working."

Investigators say a search was conducted after the trooper smelled marijuana inside the vehicle. Police say two grams of marijuana and an illegal dagger were discovered in the car.

Strube was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and unlawful possession of marijuana.

Police say Strube was arrested shortly after 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday. He was issued appearance tickets for Norwich town court.
