UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital Modernization Continues
United Health Services is moving forward with a modernization initiative in Chenango County.
A new orthopedics suite has been completed at UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital in Norwich. A new hospital entrance on Broad Street also will be opening.
The facility will be offering public tours of the new spaces on Thursday. A grand opening celebration and ribbon cutting event are scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
Cecil Miller, the hospital's president and CEO, said the modernization project has resulted in many changes to the Norwich campus over the past several years.
According to Miller, UHS has spent $110 million over the last decade to ensure that patients "have access to high-quality, coordinated care in a modern and welcoming environment."
The hospital's Broad Street entrance and new parking lot are designed to make access easier for patients and visitors.
There are 114 parking spaces in the new lot with more spaces dedicated for those with limited mobility.
The UHS Norwich orthopedics unit will move into the newly-renovated space on the second floor of the hospital. The clinic's footprint will expand from nine to 17 rooms, along with a dedicated procedure room.
The hospital's gift shop also has been renovated and expanded.
