Detectives are investigating a written bomb threat that was found inside a Union-Endicott School District building.

A student discovered a scrawled threat in a boys' bathroom at Jennie F. Snapp Middle School on Loder Avenue in Endicott. The school called police around 8:30 Wednesday morning.

A "shelter in place" order was issued, meaning students and staff were kept in classrooms while the building was checked.

Endicott police Lieutenant Steven Noyes said it's not known when the threatening message was written. He said it could have been overlooked and may have been there for an extended time before it was noticed.

Noyes said uniformed police officers and detectives searched the school property but found nothing suspicious.

Police were at the school for about three hours. After they completed their search, the "shelter in place" directive was lifted and school activities resumed.

Noyes said no one has been charged in connection with the threat. He said anyone with information about the threat may contact Endicott police detectives at 607.757.2479.
