
Armed Man Robs Downtown Binghamton Bank
Binghamton police detectives are working to locate a suspect in connection with an armed robbery at a downtown bank.
Authorities say the heist happened Friday morning at the Chemung Canal Trust branch office at 127 Court Street.
Lieutenant Cory Minor said a man approached a bank employee as she was entering the building through a rear door at 7:56 a.m.
Minor said the man forced the woman inside the bank. He displayed a knife and demanded money.
The robber obtained some cash and then fled on foot onto Court Street. Minor said it was unknown if he ran to a vehicle to leave the area.
The suspect was described as white; between 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall; medium build; wearing blue jeans, a dark-colored coat and hat with a scarf covering his face.
Minor said there were no injuries in the incident.
