Law enforcement agencies have charged several people in cases involving illegal fireworks.

New York State Police arrested three men after a vehicle was stopped for a traffic infraction on Interstate 81 in Kirkwood. Troopers found $900 worth of illegal fireworks in the vehicle.

Two Wolcott men - 29-year-old Leon Tryon and 25-year-old Garett Lavalley - were charged with unlawfully dealing with fireworks and dangerous fireworks. The third person was charged with a fireworks possession violation.

Binghamton police say the Community Response Team made an arrest on the West Side in response to a recent spike in complaints involving illegal fireworks.

Authorities say 37-year-old James Washington of Arthur Street was accused of violating an ordinance prohibiting discharging fireworks within city limits.

The men arrested in Kirkwood and Binghamton were issued court appearance tickets.
