NYSPHSAA Championships Set For Big Night

Championships in three different classifications will be decided by tonight in the NYSPHSAA Boys Championships being played at the Floyd L Maines Veterans Memorial Arena in Binghamton.  At 5:15 PM the Class D crown will be decided between Eastfrom section 6 and Moriah from section 7.  At 7:00 PM the C title is on the line as Northstar Christian Academy meets Lake George.

For area fans the big will be for the Class B championship when the Seton Catholic Central Saints face Mekeel Christian Academy from section 2.  The Saints advanced to the championship round with a double overtime win over Health Sciences Charter from Buffalo.  Mekeel earned the title shot by also going into double overtime to defeat Briarcliff.  Gametime is set for 9:00 PM.

Earlier today (Saturday) in Class A play Amityville defeated Irondequoit 52-42 and Ardsley topped Mohonasen 61-56.  In Class AA Half Hollow Hills defeated McQuaid Jesuit 82-66 and Liverpool notched a 70-67 win over powerhouse Mt. Vernon.
