At one point, the New York State Electric and Gas website showed about 5,500 customers without power.  By 4 a.m. that number was reported at 1,173 with the majority in the Town of Dickinson, including Front Street and the area around Sunrise Drive.  Upper Front Street and surrounding streets in the Town of Chenango were also without power.

NYSEG at 5:35 a.m. reported power was back on.

The Broome County Emergency Services' 911 call center was also affected by the outage and the facility was operating with generator power.

There's no word on what caused the electricity to go out.
