NYSEG has announced new circuit upgrades to customers in the Vestal area, the 623 distribution line will provide greater reliability to thousands.

According to a news release, NYSEG has begun work on the upgrade project to their electric distribution system, that will benefit over 7,000 customers in total.

The Vestal 623 circuit delivers power directly to 1,711 customers, and 5,500 customers on the connected circuit.

The upgrade is part of NYSEG’s resiliency program, that enhances safe and reliable service to its customers.

In the release, Andy Gumkowski, manager of Resiliency Field projects at NYSEG said “Once completed, these upgrades will strengthen the system against harsher more unpredictable weather, and better support the local communities we serve.”

The project will provide greater reliability, and would shorten the length of power outages in the future, the upgrade would include replacing around 230 aging utility poles, new switches, and around six miles of distribution line.

The project began in mid-January, and should be completed sometime in August of this year, NYSEG listed an advisory in the news release that there may be temporary traffic delays during the project times, and to please use caution when driving through the following areas, Anderson Road, Echo Road, Foster Road, Glenwood Road, Jones Road, Juneberry Road, NYS Rt. 26, Rita Road, Sunset Ave, West Hill Road
