More charges could be coming against a Norwich man following the death of his 18 month old daughter.

28 year old Devan Ellsworth was arrested August 26 and charged with felony assault and misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child after the toddler was found with a severe head injury.

The one-and-a-half year old girl was taken to a hospital in Syracuse where she died.

Police say Ellsworth is accused of assaulting his daughter at their Henry Street apartment.

Officials are awaiting the results of a report from the medical examiner but it’s believed Ellsworth could face additional charges in connection with the child’s death.

Ellsworth is being held in the Chenango County Jail without bail.

The Binghamton Press & Sun Bulletin reports Ellsworth has been on parole after being released from prison in May.  According to the report, he had been convicted of unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine in Chenango County.
