Binghamton Man Accused of Stabbing Woman Repeatedly
A woman was hospitalized after she was stabbed multiple times on a Binghamton street.
Police were sent to the area of Clinton Street and Colfax Avenue in the First Ward around 10:10 a.m. Wednesday after the attack.
When officers arrived, they found a 25-year-old woman in the area of 5 Colfax Avenue who had sustained multiple stab wounds to the face. She was taken to Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City for treatment.
A short time later, police took 38-year-old Michael Davis of Binghamton into custody near the scene. Detectives said he was taken into custody without incident.
Investigators said although Davis and the woman were living in the same residence on Colfax Avenue, they were not in a domestic relationship.
Police determined Davis had violated an order of protection issued by Binghamton City Court protecting the woman who was stabbed.
Investigators did not say what type of weapon was used in the attack or whether it had been recovered.
Davis has been charged with first-degree assault and aggravated criminal contempt. Both charges are felony counts.
Detectives said the incident is still under investigation. People with information by contact city police at (607) 772-7080.
