New York State Police Look for Suspect in Fraudulent EMPOWER Transactions
New York State Police are looking for a woman who could be from outside the Syracuse area but who has been conducing fraudulent transactions at EMPOWER Federal Credit Union branches throughout Onondaga County.
Authorities say the white woman, in her late 30s or early 40s has gotten over $19,000 in the bad bank deals.
Surveillance photos from three different bank branch security cameras in the Northern Syracuse area show a woman with blonde hair in two of the pictures, one with her hair pulled back, the other with straight locks to her shoulders. A third surveillance photos shows a woman behind the wheel of a grey sedan with what appears to be short, dark hair that could be a wig.
Another female is seen in the vehicle with the suspect in just one of the security camera shots.

While the alleged fraudulent transactions were reported in the EMPOWER branches in Onondaga County, it’s entirely possible the woman could be from other neighboring counties.
In a statement from the New York State Police, Troopers say, “If anyone can identify the female that was captured on the surveillance camera… they are asked to contact the New York State Police at (315) 366-6000.
The news release provided no specific information concerning a description of the woman with more specifics about her height, weight, although she appears to be of medium build, or the nature of the fraudulent banking transactions the woman is believed to have committed. There also has been no indication that any other financial institutions other than EMPOWER have been targeted in the area.
