New Berlin Man Indicted on Federal Child Pornography Charges
Federal prosecutors say a New Berlin man is accused of receiving and possessing child pornography.
The U.S. Attorney’s office says 42-year-old Brian Whipple has been arraigned on an indictment filed by a federal grand jury in a case in which he’s accused of using a peer-to-peer file sharing service to receive and download child porn from 2009 through June of last year.
Officials with the New York State Police, Office of Homeland Security and the U.S. Attorney’s office say investigators found child pornography on several devices in June of 2020.
If convicted, Whipple faces a mandatory minimum sentence of five years to a maximum of 20 years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000 and five years to life on supervised release. He would also have to register as a sex offender.
Whipple is scheduled to appear for a detention hearing this week.
