Man, Woman Found Dead in Endwell Home in Murder-Suicide
New York State Police investigators believe an Endwell man killed a woman before taking his own life.
Authorities on Friday afternoon indicated the deaths of two people whose bodies were found in a home at 2907 Hall Street were the result of a murder-suicide.
Police say 49-year-old Marc McKercher and 48-year-old Cynthia Pratt-Lyons were deceased when troopers entered the house early Wednesday evening. They had been sent there to check on the welfare of a resident.
Investigators have determined McKercher killed Pratt-Lyons before killing himself. They have not disclosed specific information about the cause of death.
This story was updated with new information provided by New York State Police.
In March 2018, McKercher had been accused of leaving two improvised explosive devices outside a house on King Street, about five blocks away from his residence.
McKercher was charged with first-degree attempted arson in that incident. A specialized state police unit removed those devices which contained explosives described as M-80s and along with BBs. They were found on the front steps and front lawn of the home.
