Martin Wins Thater Men’s Pro/1/2

Martin Reinert from Germany representing Maloja Pushbikers captured the Men Pro/1/2 bicycle race this afternoon at the 32nd Annual Chris Thater Memorial in Downtown Binghamton.  Reinert had a third-place finish in the men's race.  Finishing second was Ryan Aitcheson from Astellas Cycling Team.  Rafael Meran from CRCA/Foundation notched a third-place finish.

The Chris Thater Memorial featured bicycle racing for many different age groups including Women's Pro 1/2/3, Master Men, Junior Boys and Girls and Master Women.  A 5K Run was held this morning as part of the two-day events.

The Chris Thater Memorial was established in 1984 in memory of Binghamton University graduate Christopher Thater who was killed by a drunk driver in Broome County on October 16, 1983.  It is held each summer by the Broome County STOP-DWI Program.
