Local Veteran Honored By New York State Senate
Yesterday across the county we recognized and thanked our veterans for their service to our country.
Among the many veterans honored on November 11th, our community honored local veteran Sergeant Eric Fetterman.
During a ceremony held at the Floyd L. Maines Veterans Memorial Arena, Senator Fred Akshar inducted Sergeant Fetterman into the New York State Senate Veterans' Hall of Fame Class of 2020.
According to a press release from the Senators office, each year the New York State Senate honors one veteran, who has shown their dedication to the military and the community.
Sergeant Fetterman began his military career in 1987, when he enlisted in the Marine Corps, and served as a light armored vehicle crewman.
He continued his career after his honorable discharge in the Marine reserves, and eventually left the Marine reserves as a Sergeant.
Sergeant Fetterman’s civilian life has included many community efforts to help Marines and their families.
In the press release Senator Akshar was quoted as saying “While his active duty service to our country has long since ended, Sgt. Eric Fetterman has devoted his time and attention here in our community to serving others and advocating on behalf of his fellow veterans,”
