Democratic candidate Hollie Levine has won a close race against Republican Stephen Cornwell for Broome County Family Court Judge.

Cornwell conceded the race Monday after it became apparent Levine's lead was insurmountable.

Cornwell told WNBF News he congratulated Levine and wished her well.

Levine has been an attorney in Broome County for more than three decades. Cornwell served four years as Broome County district attorney. He chose not to seek another term for that office. He had sought the Republican nomination in the 22nd congressional district for a time but early this year he opted to run for family court instead.

Cornwell was ahead of Levine by more than 5,200 votes when the unofficial election night totals were reported. Levine easily made up the difference as the absentee ballots were counted.
