The Broome County Health Department is looking at how the home environment helps promote health.

The local agency has hosted a housing summit called "Health Starts at Home"  that included representatives from the New York State Department of Health, City of Rochester, Onondaga County Health Department and Binghamton area municipalities.

Officials discussed the impact of details like tenant rights, rental standards, enforcement and maintaining housing stock data bases assist in improving overall health in a community.
