On Saturday, September 21, 2019, more than 50 World War II, Korean, and Vietnam veterans from all around the Twin Tiers will take the trip if a lifetime to Washington, D.C. through the Twin Tiers Honor Flight, a non-profit organization, which honors America’s veterans with these incredible trips to see their war memorials in Washington, D.C.

While in Washington, D.C., veterans from the Twin Tiers will visit the Vietnam Wall, the Korean Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Iwo Jima Memorial, World War II Memorial, Airforce Memorial, among other sights including Arlington National Cemetery.

Many of the veterans who will be taking this trip didn't receive a hero's welcome home when they returned from war so many years ago and so, the Twin Tiers Honor Flight encourages you to carve out a little time in your calendar for the evening of Sunday, September 22, 2019 to gather at the American Legion Post 1645 which is located at 177 Robinson Street in Binghamton to clap and cheer as our veterans step off of their buses following their trip. You're welcome to wear patriotic colored clothing, to bring American flags to wave, and to make homemade signs if you'd like.

Please help by spreading the word to anyone you think would like to show appreciation and gratitude to our veterans through this special homecoming celebration. Those planning to attend are asked to be at the American Legion Post 1645 by 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 22. The expected arrival time in Binghamton is at 6 p.m., but because travel will be by bus, this time may change a little bit in either direction. You'll find ample parking in the lot across from the American Legion as well as on area side streets.

To give you an idea of what these trips are like for our veterans, this is a look back at Mission 8 which happened in October of 2018.

The Twin Tiers Honor Flight doesn't charge veterans anything for their trip - everything is completely funded through donations and fundraising efforts, which are tax-deductible.  The Twin Tiers Honor Flight is a federally recognized 501 (c) (3) organization, registered with the New York State Charities Bureau (New York State Registration Number: 44-32-54).
