Former Broome Transportation Commissioner Dies
Broome County’s former Transportation Commissioner is being remembered for his work in forming not only transportation policy in Southern Tier but also on the national stage.
In addition to leading local transportation departments in Broome County, Rome and Utica through the 1980s, Joseph Boardman had also been head of the Federal Railroad Administration and president of Amtrack.
He died March 7 in Florida. Boardman was 70 years old. Funeral services are being held in Rome, New York.
