Weather officials are urging people to prepare for floods.  This week is Flood Awareness and Preparedness Week.

The National Weather Service in Binghamton says, while the area still has fresh memories of the 2011 flood, it helps to review evacuation and response plans.

In addition to staying in touch with the latest forecasts, residents should prepare in advance by assembling an emergency kit containing, medications, fist aid materials, non-perishable food, water, flashlights, a radio and batteries.
