Fatal Car-Truck Crash on I-81 in Cortland County

Police are investigating a deadly collision involving a car and a tractor-trailer on Interstate 81 in Cortland County.

Authorities say the crash occurred at about 3:52 a.m. Wednesday. The scene was near mile marker 44.5 in the Town of Virgil.

According to state police, the northbound driving lane of the highway was closed for several hours after the collision for the investigation.

Northbound I-81 traffic was able to use the passing lane near the crash scene.
