Endicott’s Lyric Theater is Turning 100
The Endicott Performing Arts Center has scheduled events to commemorate the 100th anniversary of its home - the former Lyric Theater.
The building at 102 Washington Avenue now is known as the "Robert Eckert Theater." It opened as the Lyric Theater on November 11, 1917.
Center donors will be joins by local elected officials and members of the family that originally owned the theater for a dinner Saturday evening. The dinner will be followed by a program of live entertainment.
On Sunday afternoon, the performing arts center will present "Lyric Day." The program will feature two silent films - The Butcher Boy and Down to Earth - which were among the first films shown at the Lyric.
Organizers say in the spirit of the theater's special anniversary, general admission tickets will be sold for 15 cents each.
