Erie Stops Ponies Saturday
The Binghamton Rumble Ponies dropped a 5-1 decision to the Erie SeaWolves on Saturday afternoon at NYSEG Stadium. The SeaWolves took two out of three games in the series. The Rumble Ponies stand 4-5 and are idle on Easter Sunday as the entire Eastern League has no scheduled games. David Thompson drove in the only Binghamton run with a sacrifice fly that plated Matt Oberste.
The Rumble Ponies begin a four-game series at NYSEG Stadium against the Portland Sea Dogs on Monday night at 6:35 (air at 6:20 on News Radio 1290 WNBF). Mickey Jannis is the scheduled starter for Binghamton.
Jeurys Familia is scheduled to pitch at some point in Monday night's game. Familia, a former B-Met, is slated to get some work in Monday night's game. Familia has appeared in 247 Major League games in five seasons in New York. Last season he led the National League in saves with 51 and was named to the All-Star Team. He is serving a 15-game suspension for a domestic violence incident and pitched one inning with St. Lucie over the weekend. Familia was a starting pitcher with the B-Mets in 2011 when he recorded a 4-4 record in 17 starts.
