Investigators say a neighbor reported the burglary in the 1900 block of East Main Street around 1 p.m. Friday.

An officer arrived at the scene just as the suspect was exiting the apartment. Police set up a perimeter in the neighborhood after the man ran off.

Officers spent a few minutes tracking him through backyards before taking him into custody about three blocks away.

Police say 34-year-old Christopher Beach of Endicott Avenue, Johnson City, was arrested. He has been charged with second-degree burglary, a felony.

Beach was arraigned in Endicott village court and sent to Broome County Jail without bail.

Officials say personal property including collectibles was taken in the burglary. Although some of the items were discarded during the foot pursuit, all of the stolen property was recovered.
