Doug’s Sports Rap: Week Six
Week six continued to show some signs of improvement with a few teams, along with the agony of defeat among others.
The Green Bay Packers started strong against the new Brady Bunch in Tampa with a 10-0 lead, before Aaron Rodgers threw two interceptions that resulted in quick scores for the Bucs, and a 38-10 blow out over Green Bay.
The New York Giants have actually won a game, after the Washington football team gambled on the Giants inability to stop their offense, and tried to win the game on a two point conversation, giving Giants Coach Joe Judge his first win 20-19.
The New York Jets are moving closer to the first pick in the draft, as the Miami Dolphins easily shout out Gang Green 24-0, the Jets are 0-6 for the first time on 24 years.
The Detroit Lions looked good as they defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars 34-16, Lions rookie D’Andre Swift had two TD’s and a season high 116 yards on the ground.
The Broncos got by the Patriots 18-12 after two postponements because of corona virus, and it looked like an easy victor for Joe Burrow and the Bengals who got out to a 21 point lead, but Phillip Rivers showed off his veteran skills to the rookie QB and threw three touchdown passes and lead Denver to a 31-27 win over the Cincinnati Bengals.
The Atlanta Falcons got some much-needed offense with the return of Julio Jones, who caught two touchdown passes from Matt Ryan in a 40-23 rout over the Minnesota Vikings.
The Chicago Bears defense looked a bit scary (not like the 85 Bears) sacking Carolina Panthers Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater four times and forcing three turnovers in a 23-16 Chicago win.
The Ravens got off to a good start with a 26-6 lead thanks to a touchdown pass and a touchdown run from Lamar Jackson, the Eagles mounted a comeback but fell short in a 30-28 Baltimore Ravens victory.
The Tennessee Titans remained undefeated (5-0) as they rallied with a thrilling overtime win, Derrick Henry ran in a touchdown from the five yard line and gave the Titans a 42-36 victory
The San Francisco 49ers defeated the LA Rams 24-16, Jimmy Garoppolo threw three touchdown passes and the 49ers defense stopped a late fourth quarter rally with an interception.
The Steelers are also 5 and 0 with an easy win over the Cleveland Browns 38-7, Pittsburgh’s defense sacked Baker Mayfield four times, and intercepted two passes, along with holding the Browns offense to only 75 rushing yards.
Kansas City will take on the Bills this afternoon, and Dallas will host the Arizona Cardinals tonight.
