According to New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli, Johnson has been charged with grand larceny and falsifying business records.

DiNapoli said for more than two years, Johnson "flagrantly stole taxpayer dollars" by writing herself extra payroll checks. The comptroller said Johnson also is accused of "pocketing cash and misusing the village credit card."

Johnson was terminated by the village in February. She now lives in North Carolina.
