Video Shows Binghamton Walgreens Store Shoplifting Spree
Binghamton police have released video clips showing three people who put merchandise in bags before leaving a Walgreens store without paying for the items.
A time stamp on one of the recorded segments indicate the shoplifting spree occurred around 8:30 p.m. Friday.
A statement from the police department indicated detectives are investigating the larceny that occurred at the Walgreens location at 37 Pennsylvania Avenue on the city's South Side.
According to police, the "individuals entered the store and proceeded to fill bags full of items." The women then "fled the store without paying for these items."
Detectives on Wednesday released the three short video clips as part of their effort to identify the shoplifting suspects.
An investigator said Dove brand soap products valued at about $240 were stolen.
Police did not release any video from cameras outside the store, which is at the corner of Vestal and Pennsylvania avenues. The women "fled the store in an unknown direction." Detectives did not indicate whether they may have left the area in a vehicle.
It's not known whether investigators believe those involved in the incident may have engaged in similar shoplifting sprees at other businesses in the region.
People with information about the larceny case may contact the Binghamton police detective division at (607) 772-7080.
