Crash Closes Rt.11 in Kirkwood for Hours

No injuries are reported in a crash that has closed a portion of Route 11 in Kirkwood and left a couple dozen New York State Electric and Gas customers waking up in the dark January 10.

Broome County Emergency Services officials say a car went into a pole at 2:05 a.m., closing Route 11 between Trim Street and Cedarhurst Road.

At 7 a.m., authorities said they still expected the road to be closed "for hours."

The investigation is continuing but some sources have indicated the driver may have fallen asleep.
