The event will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Endicott Fire Station on Madison Avenue and include a free seat check and educational materials. Inspections are first come, first serve.

Health officials say car crashes are a leading cause of death for children ages one to 13 years old and correctly used child safety seats can reduce the risk by as much as 71 percent.  Data shows only about 17 percent of car seats are being used or installed correctly.

Residents participating in the March 30 car seat check event should bring their child safety seat, the child, the vehicle the seat will be installed in and the manuals for both the car and the car seat.
