The Broome County Sheriff’s Office has advised residents in Harpursville about upcoming routine training exercises by the Southern Tier SWAT team.

Scheduled for Wednesday, September 18th, the SWAT training exercises will be held on Lovejoy Road between State Route 7 and Hickox Road in Harpursville, from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Residents of Harpursville and surrounding communities in the Town of Colesville are reassured that the SWAT-related law enforcement activity in the area is solely for training purposes and poses no threat to the public.

The use of drones by the UAV Team will be part of the exercise, with multiple drones expected to be in the sky. However, it is emphasized that the UAV Team will only track the training exercise at specific locations and will not breach residents' privacy.

The Southern Tier SWAT team comprises members from the Broome County Sheriff’s Office, Chenango County Sheriff’s Office, and Endicott Police. This collaborative effort aims to enhance law enforcement personnel's skills and preparedness while ensuring the community's safety and security.
