A Broome County jury gets back to work deliberating the fate of a former Endicott firefighter accused of setting fire to his own home.

The jury in the Jason Stokes arson trial deliberated six hours May 12 before declaring a deadlock.

Judge Kevin Dooley told jurors that they would try again to come to a verdict.

Stokes is accused of placing accelerants around the inside of his house and setting it on fire with his wife and two teenage children sleeping inside.

The woman and children were able to get out safely.

Stokes is also accused of scrawling anti-police graffiti on the house in an effort to cover up the crime.

He could spend up to 25 years in prison if convicted.
