Binghamton’s “Stone Fox” Restaurant Closes, Rebranding Considered
A downtown Binghamton eatery that featured pizzas and burgers has closed its doors as the owners ponder future options for the place.
The Stone Fox at 15 Hawley Street near the Governmental Plaza now is quiet after operating for just over four years. The restaurant served its final meal on December 7.
Plans for the business were announced in October 2019. The site previously had been occupied by Zona & Co. Grille and Parlor City Pub.
A balcony was constructed to provide additional outdoor seating above an existing deck.
The place opened in the fall of 2020 while Covid-19 pandemic distancing guidelines were still in effect.
Partner Yaron Kweller said the future of the space at Hawley and Washington streets has yet to be determined. He said it's possible that a rebranding of the place will occur and the ownership group will open a new business.
The site is located just east of a city-owned parking garage and across the street from a large student housing complex.
