
Binghamton Police Try Out Suspect-Immobilizing Lasso
Forget about “taking a bite out of crime.” Binghamton Police officers could soon be “tripping-up crime” with a new device demonstrated at the department.
The Bolawrap-100 shoots a little grappling-hook out and slings a thin, eight-foot metal line around a person, snagging their torso and/or legs to immobilize them.

The $925 device, reminiscent of Wonder Woman’s “Lasso of Truth” is being tested and Police Chief Joseph Zikuski tested it out, wrapping up a couple police officer-volunteers.
Police agencies around the nation are continuing to explore non-lethal techniques like devices that shoot beanbags to immobilize suspects.
