The Binghamton man accused of wounding his former roommate and killing another man who accompanied the roommate on a trip to retrieve some belongings is guilty on all counts.

28 year old Nicholas Chappell claimed self-defense and said he thought 23 year old David Sanborn of Whitney Point and 26 year old Jordan Doolittle of Windsor, his former roommate, were robbers at his Mozart Street apartment last August.

Sanborn was killed while Doolittle was shot in the arm but still managed to subdue Chappell until authorities arrived.

The Broome County jury deliberated about five hours before rejecting the self-defense claim, convicting Chappell of murder and attempted murder.

Sentencing is set for June.
