Binghamton Man Accused of Driving Drunk at 2.5X Legal Limit, Crashing Into Pole
A Binghamton man is charged with drunk driving after the Broome County Sheriff’s Road Patrol found a pickup truck crashed into a utility pole on River Road in the Town of Chenango at around 10:30 p.m.May 19.
Authorities say they found the 2001 Chevrolet pickup crashed into the pole in front of 905 River Road and located 37-year-old Kyle Brothers, uninjured.
Investigators say the truck was traveling east on River Road when it veered across the opposite lane and crashed into the pole.
Deputies say Brothers admitted to consuming alcohol prior to the crash and his blood alcohol content was measured to be over two-and-a-half times the legal limit.
Brothers is charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content at point-one-eight percent or higher, moving from a lane unsafely and driving left of pavement markings.
He was released to a third party and is to appear in Town of Chenango Court at a later date.
