Binghamton Black Bears Sign Star Defenseman
The Binghamton Black Bears are 129 days to the official home opener, and the team is making some moves signing players including Defenseman Kyle Powell
A few weeks ago, Blacks Bears owner Andreas Johansson announced their first head coach James Henry, and since then, the newly appointed skipper is already scouting and signing players to compete in the Federal Prospects Hockey League (FPHL)
According to a news release from the Black Bears Organization, the latest moves include 27 year old Defenseman Kyle Powell, born in Ajax Ontario, he has earned FPHL Defenseman of the year three times with 39 goals and 195 assists in 212 FPHL games.
Owner Andreas Johansson was quoted as saying "Kyle has proven himself year after year and consistently been a leading player in the FPHL. We are so excited to have him join us for our inaugural season, as we keep working to assemble a great team for all the hockey fans in Broome County,"
Powell came from junior hockey leagues to the FPHL Danbury Titans in the 2016-2017 seasons, he joined the Watertown Wolves for the next four seasons where he has led the league in scoring and won the commissioners Cup in 2017
In the news release Powell said "The second I was asked if I wanted to come to play for Binghamton from management, I couldn't have been more excited”.

On WNBF’s First News Binghamton last week Johansson said this organization will be community minded with opportunities to give back to the community and its fans.
Johansson also said they did plan to have special theme nights during home games, and very affordable single and season ticket plans.
The Binghamton Black Bears first home game is Saturday November 6th against the Delaware Thunder
