The Binghamton Black Bears New Hockey Team are putting the pieces together for their first season at the Vision Federal Credit Union Memorial Arena.

Yesterday owner Andreas Johansson announced the hiring of a new head coach.

James Henry will be the first head coach for the Binghamton Black Bears when they take to the ice this October.

According to the news release from the hockey club, Henry’s resume includes assistant coach for the Fayetteville Marksmen of the Southern Professional Hockey League.

He (Henry) is also actively involved with player development, mentoring, and consulting, with Coast 2 Coast Development, a group that includes Former Binghamton Senator Mike Sdao.

Coach Henry’s playing days include player and Captain with the Adirondack Thunder of the East Coast Hockey League, where he currently holds the record for most games played with 303, the most assists 161, and total points 230.

In the release Henry said “I am very excited to start my coaching career in a city with an incredible amount of hockey history. Binghamton is a hockey town and this team will match this city’s reputation on and off the ice.”

Henry and his wife Ashley currently live in Hudson Falls New York.

The first Home game will be November 6th against the Delaware Thunder.
