Binghamton Bearcats Ace Ben Anderson Drafted by Texas Rangers

Binghamton Bearcats pitching ace Ben Anderson was selected in the 13th round of the Major league Baseball Amateur Draft today by the Texas Rangers.  Anderson had a standout junior season for the Bearcats this spring.  He pitched out of the bullpen his first two seasons but emerged as Binghamton's top starter this season, finishing with a 9-4 record and an ERA of 2.78. He was named the America East Pitcher of the Year and was a First Team All-Conference selection.

This is the second time Anderson has been drafted.  A graduate of Shenendehowa High School he was a 26th round pick of the Toronto Blue Jays in 2016 but elected to come to Binghamton University to play for the Bearcats.

Ben's twin brother, Ian, was the 3rd overall pick out high school and signed with the Atlanta Braves where he is now pitching for the Mississippi Braves, Atlanta's Double A team. Ben was the 385th player chosen in this year's draft.

Coach Tim Sinicki and his staff have a solid history of developing their players, especially pitchers.  Anderson is the ninth Bearcat drafted in the last eight years.  He is also the fourth pitcher taken in the last four years.  Overall Binghamton has had 15 players drafted by Major League Baseball.
