The Binghamton Bearcats men's basketball team came close to knocking out the Stony Brook Seawolves March 4 on Long Island.

Binghamton took a 25-23 lead into halftime and was within reach in the final couple of minutes but could not knock down several key shots and fell 62-57.  Binghamton was a sixth-seed while the Seawolves were a third-seed.

BU trailed 58-55 after Justin McFadden's layup with 1:12 left in the game.  The Seawolves who struggled at the free throw line hitting just 17 of 29 for 58.6% made four tosses from the charity stripe in the closing minute to seal the win.

Binghamton was led by freshman standout Willie Rodriguez who netted 19 points and grabbed six rebounds.  Romello Walker also scored in double figures with 10 points and nabbed eight rebounds.  Stony Brook was led by Carson Puriefoy and Rayshaun McGrew who scored 14 points each.  Jameel Warney picked up 11 points and had a game high 14 rebounds.

Binghamton finishes the season with an overall record of 6-26.  The Seawolves are 22-10 and advance to the semi-final round this weekend against second- seed Vermont at Burlington.
