“Dollar Tree” Opening Near Binghamton University Vestal Campus
Workers are busy stocking the shelves at a new Dollar Tree store that's about to go into operation in a Vestal shopping center.
The business in the Campus Plaza will occupy about 13,200 square feet of space in the Campus Plaza on the Vestal Parkway. That's larger than most Dollar Tree locations, which usually are between 8,000 and 12,000-square-feet in size.
The site is just west of the Binghamton University main campus.
The space previously was occupied by a Rite Aid pharmacy. That store was shut down in May 2019, one year after it had been acquired by Walgreens.
Interior demolition work for the new Dollar Tree store began in February. New flooring was installed and the merchandise receiving area was reconfigured.
The new store is scheduled to open on Thursday. It will operate seven days a week.
Another Dollar Tree store in Vestal has been located in the Town Square Mall for several years. Employees say they expect that shop will remain open, at least for the foreseeable future.
Other Broome County Dollar Tree stores are located in Binghamton, Johnson City and Endwell. There are about 340 Dollar Tree locations across New York state.
