B-Mets Will Honor Steve Kraly
One of the area's all-time favorite sports figures will continue to be a part of the Binghamton Mets this season. Steve Kraly, who served as the official scorer at Binghamton Mets' games since their first season in 1992, passed away on March 7th, 2016.
The B-Mets will honor Mr. Kraly with a special "SK" patch that will be worn on all their jerseys during the 2016 season. In addition during Opening Night ceremonies the B-Mets will dedicate a plaque honoring him that will be placed above his seat in the press box at NYSEG Stadium.
Mr. Kraly was a member of the World Series Champion New York Yankees in 1953. A standout 19-2 record that season with the Binghamton Triplets earned him that promotion. He played with some of the all-time greats of the game including Mickey Mantle, Yogi Berra and Whitey Ford. He moved to Johnson City after his playing career and worked with IBM for 29 years prior to his retirement.
The Binghamton Mets open their 2016 season on Thursday, April 7 at NYSEG Stadium when they face the New Hampshire Fisher Cats at 6:35. All of the games will again be aired on News Radio 1290 WNBF and ESPN 1360 AM. Tim Heiman returns as "The Voice of the Binghamton Mets".
