Binghamton Halal Bites Restaurant Ready to Open
Halal Bites, which has operated a restaurant in Johnson City for years, is preparing to launch its second location.
The new restaurant is to open this week at 56 Glenwood Avenue in Binghamton's First Ward.
The building had been home to Sharkey's Bar & Grill, which had been an iconic eatery for 73 years. The restaurant closed in late November 2020.

The owners of Halal Bites in Johnson City acquired the Binghamton property in February 2023.
The closed restaurant was gutted and the interior was entirely remodeled.

The Binghamton Halal Bites originally was expected to open in the summer of 2025 but the work to set up the new restaurant took longer than anticipated.
But the interior updating has been completed and a parking lot behind the building is ready for use.

Halal Bites has announced the soft opening for the Glenwood Avenue site is set for Tuesday. In an online post, the restaurant invited people to "get your first bite free" starting at 4 p.m. The offer will be available while supplies last.
The restaurant's regular operations are set to begin on Wednesday. According to the Halal Bites website, the eatery will feature Pakistani and Indian favorites.
