B-Mets Host Portland in Battle for First Place
Even though it is only early July tonight's series opener against the Portland Sea Dogs has playoff implications for both teams. Heading into the first game of a four-game series the Sea Dogs lead the B-Mets by eight games in the Eastern Division of the Eastern League. The B-Mets look to cut that margin in the next four outings. Binghamton's record is 51-37 while the Sea Dogs are 59-29.
Cory Mazzoni makes his first start of the season for the B- Mets . He has started a pair of games in Class A ball...one with The Gulf Coast League Mets and one with St. Lucie. He was injured to start the year.
. He saw duty in Binghamton last season and was a 2nd round draft pick of New York in 2011.
Tyler Pill gets the start tomorrow night for the B-Mets while former Binghamton University ace Mike Augliera is the scheduled starter for Portland. Augliera is 3-7 this season with an ERA of 5.36 in 16 starts.
