The injured inmate was taken to Wilson Memorial Regional Medical Center in Johnson City for treatment.

Lindow was already being held in the Broome County Jail on a first-degree murder charge.  He is accused of fatally stabbing 36-year-old David Royes of Binghamton several times at an apartment on Main Street in Binghamton on December 2.

(see original story here:)

In that incident, Royes was attacked at 110 Main Street and died at a hospital a short time later.

In the confusion during the initial reports to police, there had been early claims that shots had been fired but Binghamton Police quickly clarified that there had been no gunplay.  The large police response did prompt the Binghamton City School District to lock down nearby school buildings at the High School, West Middle School, Thomas Jefferson and Horace Mann Elementary.

Police found Royes in apartment over a block of Main Street store fronts, yards from the Binghamton High School shortly after 9 that morning with multiple stab wounds.

A search was launched for a man wearing a light, heather-grey hooded sweatshirt and a black mask who had fled, running across Main Street toward Chestnut Street.

Lindow was located later in the day at a home on Asbury Street where he was taken into custody without further incident.

Now Lindow is being charged with Felony Assault for the jail incident.
