A teenage girl faces 15 charges in connection with a series of arson fires.

Authorities say the arrest followed an investigation into incidents that happened in Schoharie County.

According to state police, residents along a road in the Town of Summit had vehicles damaged as a result of vandalism and arson.

The first incident was reported on June 26. Several vehicles were damaged or destroyed in the final incident, which occurred on July 11. Police say in that case, one vehicle was a total loss and two others sustained "significant" damage. An occupied house also was damaged in that incident.

Investigators say evidence was seized when the girl's home was searched by police using a dog trained in accelerant detection.

The teenager was charged with six counts of arson, five counts of criminal mischief and four counts of reckless endangerment. She was being held at a juvenile detention facility.
